Black Dog Labs

Our Story

Building software for industries where security isn't optional — it's everything.

We started Black Dog Labs back in 2012 to tackle a specific challenge: building software for industries where security isn't optional, it's everything.

Our founder, Jim Collins, started out in Cork before moving to London in 2004. At the time, tech was booming across finance and government. Jim jumped straight into the deep end, working on rapid software development and high-level security infrastructure. That experience became the blueprint for Black Dog Labs.

In the early days, we built software to support payments for brands like Sagepay and Net-a-Porter. Since then, we've scaled up to handle massive public and private sector projects — including the Passport Office exemplar and HSBC's KYC processes.

Today, we're expanding into healthcare and social care. We believe the same level of airtight security used in finance should protect the care sector, ensuring that systems run smoothly and people stay safe.
